I had the honor of being a part of an incredible team of vendors for this years Inspired Creations contest displayed at Indie Wed! Our concept was the ” Belles & Gents Bar”. While whimsical and elegant we also wanted to welcome the masculine. It had everything you would expect at an old-gentlemen’s club – but with a modern twist appealing to women as well as men. Think elegance meets whiskey bar.

I loved loved loved to see our concept come to life and am so proud to be a part of this team! I loved the colors, the bar, the old bourbon barrel, all the paper goodies, the studding florals, the delicious nibbles, His/Her drink recipes and the organization that it took to get it all in one place.

Video Muted Love. | Woodland Wedding Inspiration Vignette

In keeping with the natural melancholy aesthetic of shoot, the film by Put Down the Bourbon was shot in an dramatic raw perspective with an original music composition by Paper Door. We didn’t want a smooth over-produced video but the edges a bit unkempt and an intimate perspective into this bride’s waiting.

Inspiration Shoot | Woodland Wedding Photography

I am so very excited to bring you this Woodland Inspiration Shoot. A group of talented vendors got together wanting an inspirational shoot void of pastels and pretty pinks to bring imagery to the bride with a love of nature and the beauty in the barren winter months.

Katie from Jayne Weddings first hatched this idea and put together a gorgeous tablescape with the help of Fleur and paper goods by Ruby the Fox. Katie describes her idea, “ We set the table to reflect how long she waits. Woodland creatures take over the once lush table, flowers are replaced by items found on the forest floor, but the candles still flicker and the linens still gleam a bright shade of purple. Using candle plates instead of typical salad plates brought a nice matte black finish to the table. The chairs were wrapped in a braided fabric rope to make them look festive, but not over the top. Bundles of sticks were wrapped in matching mini rope as a “favor” to the guest.”

We asked Brit Cooper Robinson to be our woodland bride. Shelby Smith and Dena Miller helped us with hair and makeup to create a edgy yet regal look for her . The dress was custom made by the super talented, Mignonette Designs.

We had a short video put together by Put Down the Bourbon with original music from Paper Door and will be sharing next!!

Whimsical Bride | Sneak Peek of Muted Woodland Inspiration

One shot as a fun Sneak Peek to what I will be posting on Thursday!! Katie from Jayne Weddings , Kelly from Fleur and I got together to brainstorm a wedding inspiration shoot that was void of pastels and appealed to a love of nature and the barren months of winter. This gorgeous dress was made by the talented Mignonette Designs.

Favorites of 2011 Wedding Photography

Here it is! The last blog post of the year! These are favorites from our 2011 Weddings. What a wonderful year it has been. We have been to the beaches of Florida, modern city soirees, hometown barn weddings and so many more amazing celebrations. 2011 was filled with unbelievably kind and creative clients. A genuine thank you goes out to all of you and a blessing of love for many years to come.

The studio will be closed for a much needed break and will reopen January 3rd 2012. We will reply to all emails and phone calls then!

Lauren & Matt | Wedding at The Granary | Part 2

After Lauren & Matt were able to see each other for the first time , we met up with their charming wedding party for some fun photos. At the end of the lane was this small barn with amazing texture.

When Lauren was a little girl, The Granary was all covered with ivy and in disrepair. The Granary has since been repaired and a perfect place for a warm intimate wedding.

Congratulations to you both. We loved being a part of your day and thank you for ending 2011 in such an amazing way.

Lauren & Matt | Wedding at The Granary, Indiana

Lauren & Matt’s wedding was the last one of 2011 for us, and it was a perfect ending. We traveled south from Chicago to the little town of New Harmony Indiana near where Lauren grew up. The town was unbelievably charming with cobblestone streets, nooks and crannies and Midwestern charm. Lauren has amazing taste and her details did not disappoint. Her gown was romantic yet simple, the flowers delicous shades of peach with accents of ivory. What made this wedding one of my favorites of the year was how nice everyone was! Lauren’s family was so hospitable, the bridal party charming and everyone was so happy, calm and really enjoying the celebration.

Lauren & Matt thank you for ending our 2011 wedding season with great style, a fun location and with a joyful celebration of your love. What a great year it has been!

Lauren & Eric | Downtown Chicago Wedding Photography

Lauren and Eric’s day was all about having fun and enjoying one another’s company. They met up with us downtown in their favorite Chicago locations. Lauren wore such a classic dress with fun yellow accents. ( I love her shoes! ) These two were so much fun to spend time with and their ceremony later in the day reflected their love of celebration as well.

Ruth + Wilson | Fall Goshen Indiana Wedding

My sweet friend Ruth got married a few weeks ago on a very rainy morning in Goshen Indiana. She looked so beautiful and so very her. Eric and I came up for the day to document their day and to be a part of the celebration. Ruth and Wilson did not care about the rain. They enjoyed their morning together and with joy, prayer and lots of people who loved them are now husband and wife.

Eric and I couldn’t be happier. Congrats Ruth and Wilson!

Jennifer & Dave | Wedding in Citizens Park Barrington IL

Jennifer and Dave’s day was an absolute delight. Everything was laid back and everyone so happy!! ( perfect combo if you ask me) I got a bit swept up into their story. They are both such genuine people and so thoughtful towards the other. And oh, their sense of humor! It had them both laughing, us laughing and the whole day filled with extra amounts of joy.

Their wedding day was full of late summer sunlight, deep saturated color and a whole bunch of fun people. When I first saw Jennifer’s dress I gasped. Isn’t it incredible?

First looks are just the best. I know I’m a broken record about this, but they are so special, intimate and the imagery is so genuinely filled with emotion. Jennifer and Dave’s first look was one of my favorites. Look at his face!

Cocktail hour filled with lawn games, wildflowers in mason jars and joyous hugs!

As the light faded we ducked out for just a few more Jennifer & Dave alone. Some of my favorites from the day.

The party was kicked off with the first dance . The indoor fire place was stocked with wood and S’mores and the big celebration began!
