Video Muted Love. | Woodland Wedding Inspiration Vignette

In keeping with the natural melancholy aesthetic of shoot, the film by Put Down the Bourbon was shot in an dramatic raw perspective with an original music composition by Paper Door.  We didn’t want a smooth over-produced video but the edges a bit unkempt and an intimate perspective into this bride’s waiting.

Inspiration Shoot | Woodland Wedding Photography

I am so very excited to bring you this Woodland Inspiration Shoot.  A group of talented vendors got together wanting an inspirational shoot void of pastels and pretty pinks to bring imagery to the bride with a love of nature and the beauty in the barren winter months.

Katie from Jayne Weddings first hatched this idea and put together a gorgeous tablescape with the help of Fleur and paper goods by Ruby the Fox.  Katie describes her idea, “ We set the table to reflect how long she waits. Woodland creatures take over the once lush table, flowers are replaced by items found on the forest floor, but the candles still flicker and the linens still gleam a bright shade of purple.  Using candle plates instead of typical salad plates brought a nice matte black finish to the table. The chairs were wrapped in a braided fabric rope to make them look festive, but not over the top. Bundles of sticks were wrapped in matching mini rope as a “favor” to the guest.”

We asked Brit Cooper Robinson to be our woodland bride. Shelby Smith and Dena Miller helped us with hair and makeup to create a edgy yet regal look for her .  The dress was custom made by the super talented, Mignonette Designs.

We had a short video put together by Put Down the Bourbon with original music from Paper Door and will be sharing next!!

Fine Art Botanics | Personal.

This week started my yearly class at Chicago Botanic Garden teaching Macro Photography in the greenhouse. It is always a welcome change of pace for me to communicate the technicalities of the camera, meet new students and spend some time away from the computer.  I wander with my class in the green humidity and it relaxes me deeply.  Here is one from this week.

We are so honored to see Catherine & Sean’s modern wedding up on Style Me Pretty this afternoon! Go have a look!

Kristine & Nathan | Rainy Engagement Photography

I love rainy day sessions.  I know for many a rainy forecast for your session can be a disappointment, but they always end up being so personal and a day to remember. Kristine is so flexible and relaxed so this forecast didn’t even concern her.  We hopped in a cab and popped around downtown with our umbrellas in tow.  Looking forward to their wedding this April!

Noah 9 months | Modern Baby Photography

Remember sweet Noah at 3 months?  Click here to see how much he’s grown!  This little mister is hard not to fall for.  He has such a sunny disposition and kept giggling and smiling at me with those beautiful chocolate brown eyes.  It is always a joy to spend time with him and his Mom!  How fun it is to see these little ones grow so fast and change in just the few short months since I’ve seen them last!

Happy 9 months Noah and next up will be a big one year session with the whole family!

Favorites of 2011 Wedding Photography

Here it is!  The last blog post of the year! These are favorites from our 2011 Weddings.  What a wonderful year it has been.  We have been to the beaches of Florida, modern city soirees, hometown barn weddings and so many more amazing celebrations.  2011 was filled with unbelievably kind and creative clients.   A genuine thank you goes out to all of you and a blessing of love for many years to come.

The studio will be closed for a much needed break and will reopen January 3rd 2012.   We will reply to all emails and phone calls then!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Best of Engagement Photography 2011

This collection of images are a few of our favorite engagement sessions of the year.  Engagement sessions are some of my favorite memories of the year.  Everyone is relaxed, just being themselves and it is when we really get to know you.  Its so fun to goof off, chat away and really see how each couple connects. Congrats to each of these lovely couples!

Up next  is the best of 2011 Best of Wedding Photography and the last post of the year!

Oh the places we go! 2011 | Personal.

Here it is !Many of you have been asking for this silly little end of the year blog post. It is filled with photos Eric and I  have taken of one another at all the wonderful weddings this year.

Putting this together each year is always funny, nostalgic, humbling and always leaves me with a grateful heart.  Our whole body of work is built upon the stories of others and the window we capture into their life and love.   When you look back through these images of Eric and I, I can see our story being written among all of these love stories and I think that is pretty special.

Next up is The Best of Engagement and Weddings 2011!

If want to see photos from our 2010 year , click here to go see!

We started 2011 by heading to Miami for a destination wedding.  70 degrees interrupting Chicago January was a welcome distraction.

Back to Chicago Winter!  We did quite a few winter engagement sessions this year and it was suprisingly fun to work in a blanket of white.

And no, Eric does not know this wedding guest below on right.

PhotoBooth Light check!

Found out later the plant I am buried in is Poison Sumac! ( don’t worry, all was ok)

Um. what is with the blue shirts surrounding me? Weird right?

Our studio and office in Lincoln Square.

You get BIG time bonus points from Eric if golf cart is our mode of transportation on your wedding day!

Took after Styled Shoot was a wrap in the woods!

Thank you , thank you sweet gals and gents for inviting us to so many fun locations and entrusting us with your day.

xoxo,

Jessie & Eric
